Meet the Team
Rich Mak
owner
Meet Rich, our Founder! You will often find him on a ladder, or a scissor lift, under a tank, or with at least one tool in his hand, building something from scratch. If you don’t see him like that, then you can find him over on the cornhole boards perfecting his toss! Rich’s favorite beer is highly hopped IPA’s and he has a passion for kite surfing. Rich wanted to start BCB after moving to this area to find there was a need for a cool, fun place you could go and gather and we sure our glad he did!
Sarah Mak
owner
Meet Sarah, our official curtain puller and owner! She is our tech guru, updates our website, handles our book keeping and a lot of the behind the scenes day to day business! Sarah has a passion for stand up paddle boarding and says the coolest place she’s ever boarded was the canals of Venice! In her (minimal) spare time she is also an adjunct professor teaching assistive technology classes.
Sara Thomas
general manager
Meet Sara, our BCB General Manager. You’ll often find her snapping photos for social media, booking events, & live music, designing swag, can labels and more. Sara also handles our BCB bookkeeping, payroll and basically all the behind the scenes logistics. She joined the BCB team after spending nearly a decade planning large scale alcohol and food festivals all over the East Coast. Outside of the taproom she is a mom to a daughter and twin boys and has a passion for interior design, travel
& pizza ... always pizza!
Jim Wagner
head brewer
Meet Jim, our Head Brewer! Jim has been brewing professionally since 1999 and has won medals at both the GABF and World Beer Cup. Outside of brewing Jim enjoys playing poker, well not just playing but winning! His favorite food is Mexican, specifically carnitas and his favorite beer all depends on the season, his mood and the brewer who brews it!

When he's not in the brewhouse you can find him on the cornhole boards perfecting his throw. Challenge him to a game to see how you stack up!
Phoenix 5
brewery cat
Meet Phoenix 5, brewery cat, overnight security & welcoming committee. Phoenix aka Feeny joined the BCB team in fall of 2019 through the Baltimore County Working Cats Program. According to the program she was too terrified of people to be adopted into a home but needed a place to find shelter & food. We took her in to help keep our warehouse in tip top shape and it only took her about a week to come out of her shell (we think they judged her too quickly because she sure isn't afraid of people). You'll often see her perched up on the brewhouse steps or when it is slow you might catch her wandering around the taproom.
